The residence has 790 m2 (8,500 sq.ft) of floor area but a proportionally greater volume 2,800 m3 (100,000 cu.ft.) because of the Entry and Great Room which have a clear height ranging up to 11 m (35 ft).

The challenge was to set this very formal, massive dwelling on a wooded, steeply sloping site. Once the informally arranged shrubs and ground cover grew in they softened the boulders and loose paved areas to re-establish the naturalsite.

From the placing of ornamental sculpture on the exterior to the custom fireplaces on the interior, the entire structure acts as a backdrop for the Owner's collection of Canadiana furniture, sculpture and pottery.
